When working in the waterproofing consulting department, David is responsible for providing industry consulting services to architects, developers, building owners and contractors for waterproofing system selection and installation. This includes peer review of construction specifications, drawings and the development of waterproofing details, and 3rd party waterproofing inspection services. Mr. Lopez is also in charge of the preparation of reconstruction and waterproofing design documents, as well as contract administration of reconstruction projects.
Additionally, David is a part of the construction litigation consulting department. Within this department he provides construction litigation support services, including expert witness services, field investigation, and code compliance review of existing conditions and contract documents. David also helps with the scope of repair development and reconstruction construction documents.

David Lopez has an extensive and impressive work history that started off in 1982 when he worked with Bay Extrusions as a Mechanical Drafter. In 1985-1986 Mr. Lopez worked as an Architectural drafter for Jaml Drafting Services and a Cost Estimator & Architectural Drafter at Allen Building Product from 1988-1990. David was a job captain from 1994 to 1995 at the Schooler Construction CO Inc. and an Architect Trainee & Drafter with AVELAR (previously Richard Avelar & Associates) from 1990- 2001. Mr. Lopez then worked for eleven years (from 2001-2011) at Walovich & Associates as a Project Manager/General Contractor. Since 2011, David has worked as a Construction Consultant, Senior Waterproofing Consultant, General Contractor, and Construction Administrator at AVELAR.
Educational History:
In 1987 David received his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from University of California, Berkeley. He also got his California General Contractor License, B-810769, in 2002 and throughout the years has received waterproofing inspector certifications and training in AVM Industries, Aquafin, Inc., Carlisle Coatings & Waterproofing, CETCO, CIM Industries, EPRO Waterproofing, and GCP Applied Technologies.
