Lorenzo Llanillo is a Senior Project Manager at AVELAR, providing architectural services for the design of new construction and the reconstruction of commercial, residential, industrial, and jurisdictional projects, with a specialization in all facets of building enclosure design. He also provides construction litigation support — including field investigation and building pathology analysis and diagnosis. His responsibilities span architectural design, construction documentation, peer review, and construction contract administration.
Lorenzo brings more than three decades of experience across architecture, forensic investigation, and remedial design. Prior to joining AVELAR, he was an Associate at McGinnis Chen Associates in San Francisco, where he managed all phases of design, peer review, new construction, construction litigation, rehabilitation, and property condition assessments — serving repeat municipal clients on roofing remediation, peer review, renovation, and new construction projects.
Earlier in his career, Lorenzo served on the litigation-support and technical staff at Ian MacKinlay Architecture, working on forensic, remediation, and design projects ranging from mold analysis and water-penetration remediation to custom architectural commissions. He has also taught as a guest lecturer on Forensic Architecture for Architecture 160/260 at the University of California, Berkeley College of Environmental Design. This combination of design, forensic, and academic experience gives him a deep, systems-level understanding of building performance and failure.
