Tim Stauffer, AVELAR’s Senior Structural Engineer has experience structural engineering & designing in support of architects, commercial and multi-family property owners, and builders in all technical aspects of the design and build process. Tim’s responsibilities include design, analysis, investigation, and consulting for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional structures of wood, structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and cold- formed steel construction. Tim is also named inventor on more than a dozen patents!
Professional History:
Tim is a structural engineer and problem solver with over 25 years of experience in building design and analysis, investigation, and construction product development. He specializes in wood-frame residential construction but has completed projects for a variety of building types and construction materials.
Prior to joining AVELAR, Tim was a successful business owner with approximately 200 completed projects. His product development experience includes lateral system, wood connector, and cold-formed steel connector products. Many of these products have been granted patents and include first-in-the-industry features, testing, and applications. Tim most enjoys projects that require close collaboration with team members from diverse backgrounds, and constantly strives to provide exceptional structural engineering services that result in a positive impact for our clients and project partners. He is also a named inventor on more than a dozen patents.
Educational History:
At Pennsylvania State University, Tim received his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering (BAE) and a minor in Engineering Mechanics. Following his B.S he acquired a Master of Science (MSc) in Civil Engineering at University of California, Berkeley.
