This Saturday and Sunday, May 17–18, 2025 (10 a.m.–5 p.m.), the historic Benicia Arsenal opens its doors for Open Studios 2025, and our Managing Partner, architect and painter, Joe Garcia, will be among the featured artists.
Joe has spent over three decades leading complex reconstruction and forensic architecture projects at AVELAR. But beyond the drafting table, his creative roots thrive in the studio, where his work explores the intersection of structure, rhythm, and abstraction.
This weekend, visitors will have the opportunity to step into Joe’s working studio, view his latest paintings, and experience how his architectural perspective informs his art.
Set within the atmospheric brick warehouses of the former 19th-century ordnance depot, the Benicia Arsenal now hosts over 40 working artists. All studios are within easy walking distance, making it a perfect way to spend the day immersed in Benicia’s vibrant creative community.
Open Studios 2025 is free to attend and offers plenty of parking near Tyler, Lincoln, and Grant Streets.
