He knows what the wall Was supposed to do

Announcements   |   10. 23. 2026

Tex Teixeira spent the first half of his career designing fenestration assemblies — windows, curtain walls and window walls. He has spent the second half explaining why they failed.

A window into AVELAR’s fenestration expert.

Most envelope experts meet a building only after it leaks. Tex knows what the assemblies are supposed to do, because he used to be the one designing them.

In the eighties and nineties he was designing and approving curtain walls for towers in the U.S., Hong Kong, Singapore and China, and running mock-up and field water testing on numerous mid- and high-rise buildings. Twenty-five years of his own fenestration consultancy followed, and more than 250 cases on both sides of the table.

The fenestration and envelope matters he takes on:

  • Construction defect claims involving windows, window walls, curtain walls and storefronts
  • Water intrusion at building envelope systems, and the dry rot and structural damage that follows, through to conceptual repairs
  • EIFS, cement plaster, GFRC and precast panel defects
  • Joint sealant failures and air barrier deficiencies
  • Personal injury matters involving falls from fenestration assemblies
  • Design, drawing and specification review before anything gets built
  • Laboratory and field mock-up supervision and water testing
  • Scope of repair, cost estimating, and construction delay claims
  • Contractor standard of care and contractual obligations

If the water is getting in and nobody can agree whose detail failed, that is the question Tex has answered a few hundred times.
